Community Events

The community events committee is involved in defining appropriate and entertaining activities that enrich the living experience for our community. In the past, they have included activities for adults and children such as: Easter egg hunt, movie night, and adult mixers. Anyone volunteering to assist with this committee would coordinate with any vendors, solicit other volunteers, organize the events, arrange logistics and supplies, oversee the event itself, and ensure that it is completed and closed out fully, all while working within a defined budget. January meeting notes:  The committee lead reported planning this years events with emphasis on the Easter event. Volunteer dinner is being planned for January. 

February meeting notes:  Annual meeting held. No monthly report. 

March meeting notes:  There will be an Easter Egg Hunt this weekend. 

April meeting notes:  The Concert in the Park is scheduled for May 4 at Crescent Green Park, The Summer Kick Off Event with Kona Ice is scheduled for May 24th and Shred Day is scheduled for June 8th. Adult Water Fitness is set to begin the first week in June on Saturday mornings and will be testing out a Tuesday night class in July.

May meeting notes:  Concert in the Park was successful until the rain. Kona Ice is scheduled for May 24 at Gerri Ayers, but will likely be pushed to the following week. Shred Day is scheduled for June 8 at Park Cypress.

June meeting notes:  Kicked off the summer with Kona Ice event and handed out about 140 snow cones. Water Fitness kicked off 2 weeks ago and there has been a great turnout so far! The shredding event held on Saturday was a great success.  Last year’s 4th of July chair is unable to commit to this year. Kelley O’Brien is meeting with possible volunteers this Wednesday to see if they can take the lead together. Pool, lifeguards, DJ, and Kona Ice have already been booked. So, if nothing else, we can have the pool party.

July meeting notes:  It was reported that the 4th of July Parade and Pool party was a success due to the volunteers stepping in and making it happen. Water Fitness is well underway and has regular attendance. Evening classes are scheduled for Tuesdays in July on a trial basis.  Lifeguards for Tuesdays are doubled because the pool is not open. Upcoming events scheduled, DIve In Movie in August and looking for a volunteer to organize the Fall Adult Mixer. 

August meeting notes: Dive-in movie is planned for August at Gerri Ayers.

September meeting notes:  Proposed 2025 budget was presented with minimal changes including: Adult mixer/concerts, Egg Hunt, Summer Kick Off with Kona, 4th of July, Adult Fitness (including water fitness), Shred Days, Holiday in the Park, and Dive In Movie.
